Why Liar

Micah, the main character of “Liar” by Justine Larbalestire, thinks she inherited her lying from her father. Not only is she telling a small fib she is making up dramatic stories just because she knows people will believe them. Which makes the title perfect for this story, not even an exaggeration. Because Micah is a true liar, she lies about everything. Her lies are even over the top lies, about her sex, parents, boyfriends. Which are things people normally don’t have the need to lie about.
I think the author chose this title to really emphasize how much lying the main character really does. Even though I am not half way into the book I realize Micah lies a lot, which the title makes stand out. Without the title being “Liar” I do not know if I would fully realize the actions of her lies and how repetitive they really are. In the matter of a friends death you should not be lying under any circumstances, and it shows how serious her problem is. Although not only is she lying in such a big way she is telling small fibs to her non-friends over things that do not need to be lied about.
People everywhere, like Micah lie every day and people don’t even realize it. Micah lies a lot about things you really wouldn’t notice are lies, because why would someone lie. I believe the author emphasizing what a liar Micah really is in her book title to make how much she really lies stand out.
